To celebrate our partnership agreement with Invest Queensland, Director General of the Queensland Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry Bob McCarthy, hosted a very informative and enjoyable launch event with FCA members at the Arthouse Hotel in Sydney on Thursday, July 3, 2008.
Mr McCarthy spoke of Queensland's rapid economic, science, technological and cultural growth, with around 1200 people moving each week to Queensland from interstate and overseas. He also told the audience about Queensland's aviation and aerospace industries, which were very viable investment opportunities, and also referred to Queensland's leading expertise in biotechnology. All these areas of interest were, of course, in addition to Queensland's spectacular natural beauty onshore and offshore as major tourism attractions.
Mr McCarthy was assisted at the launch by DTRDI colleagues John Strano, Executive Director, Manufacturing & Investment, Sarah Buckler, Director, Invest Queensland, Melanie Anderson, Manager Aviation & Defence, Invest Queensland, Mark Paddenburg, Manager of Services, Invest Queensland, and Director of Communication Meryl McKenzie.
Over 25 of the FCA's most active members attended the event, representing major broadcast and print media from Germany, Switzerland, Japan, China, France, Spain, South-East Asia, Brazil and the UK.
FCA board member Lin Kuang captured the warmth of Queensland hospitality with some colourful photographs:
